OK Guys, I was watching my tank as usual, and noticed that the temp remained at a constant 20C and thought that the heater needed adjusting, so last night I set it at 28C and this morning nothing... Still 20C... So I assumed my heater was broken, I ran out and bought a new heater only to get home and see that my heater was not plugged in... :X

So the moral of the story is check to see if it PLUGGED IN before running out to get a new one... But the heater does have a little crack in it. So I will see if the temp rises and see if it still works, it was working before...
You know, I could kick myself if it still works... Hope this made you laugh...

haha i did that with the pump the other day when i was changing the water, i got a straw and started poking the motor after about an hour my mum said try plugging it in, i felt stupid

If the heater has a crack in it :shout: THEN BIN IT :shout: before you or the fish or both get electrocuted.....please

take the shame..lol

Lol, that is funny. But, the elctric current will not kill the fish. My uncle had a 20g, with i oscar, i pleco, and a few other fish( i know overstocked) and his heater exploded. All his fish live through the explosion, v=but then died after he put them in a bucket without a filter, and no cycled water.

no the fish will not be electrocuted seeing as they are not touching the ground. The only thing to be electrocuted would be you. Ouch!

yeah, I second that.... just a piece of advice (not that I'd know first hand or anything) ... if you ever take the heater OUT of the tank without unplugging it first, and then you, say maybe, burn a hole in your carpet with it -- try to avoid that knee-jerk reaction of plunging the hot heater back into the tank full of water... it explodes. You get burned, cut, and electricuted. Not that I'd know.

Oh, that's ok then  But hey, the water is a conductor and that's touching the ground......don't want to try it but I beg to differ and say the fish would be electrocuted but maynot result in death from it.......

the fish cant get electrocuted as nothing is touching the ground to earth it. the current would electrocute the water though if something was to earth the whole tank to the ground ie...you :D

It still effects the fish

ive gotten electrocuted due to my heater.it was a submerrsable on my 15 gallon puffer tank.the heater i think wasnt rated for 15 gallons.i think only like 10 or less and i had it on a 20 gal before that so i think i worked it to nreaking point.all my fish were fine and happily swimming aorund(atleast i think so).it just felt like a tingle trough me.sharp when i first touched the water though.
