The Last Of My Home-grown Dalmation Mollies Looks Like He's Losing

Hi-
The last molly that was born in my tank seems to be on his "last fins." He's a dalmation who distinguished himself not just by his orange-tinged tail, but also because he went after every female in the tank--relentlessly--so much so that I nicknamed him "horny."

Just got him and his catfish tankmate some new friends about a week ago. Many female mollies for him to play with, a couple of rosy barbs and cherry barbs....And he was chasing the gals. All of a sudden, late last week, he developed the worst case of popeye I've ever seen. His little eye just swelled right up-so HUGE with a pink and white mound beneath the pupil!! o

I did post it on ER site, and tried antibiotics, numerous water changes and lots of love--he's still hanging on, but seems weaker. The catfish keeps coming over and nudging him to get him going, like this little guy did with his last molly girfriend who died about a month ago...

This is hard to keep losing my precious little fish friends...as much as I enjoy them so...but I'm not givivng up yet... I'm continuing the antibiotics, but I don't have much hope for the little guy...oy

Awe so sorry to hear that he's having such a bad case. Maybe try isolating him so he can be less stressed on his own. Also what all have you tried medication wise? I would suggest finding a product made by API (Aquarium Pharmaceuticals). They sell powdered packets and are labeled specifically depending on what needs to be treated.
