Dear All,

I have had an Ich problem in my tank now for a few weeks, water stats are all fine (honestly!), temp is c. 26C. I have tried Protozin and now moving to King British white spot eliminator.

Is there anything else I can do or do I have one of those resiliant strains that was recently mentioned in PFK magazine.

Please help a couple of my rummy's and one of my rams look like they should be served with chips and vinegar :( !

Cheers

CW

I have used simple stresscoat with success, never used any ick meds, but I have only dealt with ick 2X, and the 2nd was a purchase that had ick when I bought it. I have also caught it early on, but it is worth trying. I read a couple of articles on ick/stresscoat and decided to try it since it won't hurt. The first time I noticed ick I did a water change, dosed the whole tank with the dosage recommended for damaged fins etc and haven't seen it back in 5 months. On the new purchase I quarantined him, raised temp for 2 days, dosed with stresscoat as above, did water changes every or every other day for 2 weeks, and he is fine now in my community tank. Some say ick is always in the water, and a stressed fish can't fight it off, the stresscoat helps their natural defenses. My first case of ick was definitely a stress issue as the fish were in too small of a tank to be happy. Stresscoat can also be squirted directly onto a fish to help speed up the healing, which worked well for my husbands oscars when he purchased a texas cichlid labeled as a jack dempsey and the texas nipped the snot out of the oscars. Hope that helps.

You need to raise the temps up to 28C at least and add as much extra aeration as you can.
I've found Interpet Anti Whitespot Plus to be incredibly effective.
Always run a carbon pad between switching treatments and do a water change.

Good luck :good:

Also anything containing malachite green has to have the tank lights off, and no carbon. Usually though, just raising the temperature to 82f kills it off but you need to add extra air.
