Last night i was feeding my girls blood worms off a measuring spoon.
I never used to give them to them very often so they really didn't get too excited when I came over to feed them. But.... now that little Liza is in the tank I have to give her bloodworms every other day, cuz that plus peas is all she'll eat.
So ANYWAY.... now when I open the tank lid to feed them, the girls all line up and climb all over each other hoping to get all the food - and last night, they started jumping out of the water to get at the spoon with the food on it. It was so funny - Liza flew up and out of the water - splatted up agains the side of the tank and slid down into the water. It startled me at first, but she was just fine - and came back for more. They can jump a good 2 - 3 inches in height, and from their takeoff spot to where they hit the water again can sometimes be as much as 6 inches. It is great entertainment if you're ever bored - see if your fish jump for their food (just make sure the lid is covering the jumping areas to prevent any disasters.
