YAY!   My first batch is in the tank!   They seem to be happy.   I know I am!  I HOPE to get the neons in this weekend, but I will be very careful with ammonia testing. 1016444_10152439922508787_104439424_n.jpg

Nice. Do you have a full tank shot?

Be careful with this long-fin variety. Other fish enjoy nipping at the delicate fins. They are pretty though.

In the small tank one of these was nipping at the others.  I plan on housing these with Harlequin rasboras, neons, kuhli loaches, maybe some otos (not sure) and possibly a gourami.  Hopefully none of those are nippy.  I'd like some shrimp, maybe some cherry barbs, but I need to add what I know we want first and see about the population.

The skirts are getting comfortable, and no longer schooling so closely.  It's nice to see them moving about.  The extra space, or the extra friends, have curbed the nippy one.  YAY!

Here is the tank before fish.  I wish I had a darker sand....it's almost too bright.  But since the black was ugly, and neon is NOT my style, this will have to do.

There are several darker play sands available, or you can mix blasting grit (which I use in my tanks with success) which is black and mix it with similarly sized sand to make a really cool salt and pepper look.

My cherry barbs nipped each other, and I hear neons are nippy, but the others are peaceful enough. What size is this tank? Hard to tell from the angle.

This is a 55 gallon.   Husband is insisting on the neons.  I'll have to pray that it won't be an issue.  Otherwise, I'll have to rehome the skirts.
