the dreaded question...

now that my panda cories have very unfortunately died and i dont think i will be getting any more incase it happens again, i now have the problem of deciding which fish should replace them. i have no idea what i could get! i would preferably want a bottom feeder but i really dont know.
i was thinking maybe a few otos. i cant think of anything else that would be suitable.
my tank is a 24 gallon high (just over two foot long and about 45cm high). the current inhabitants are in my sig.
anyone have any suggestions??

I'd go for cories again. They've got to be the most interesting bottom feeders (with the possible exception of clown loaches, but your tank's a bit small for them).

I understand your concern about getting more, but the better idea would be to try and establish how they died in the first place (perhaps I've missed a post about that, in which case, sorry!). I'd say that if there's some reason why they died it's unlikely to be a problem just for cories, and there's as much chance that any new fish will also die.

So - to sum up - work out what the problem is, fix it, get more cories (in that order!)

didnt you just switch to sand for your cories? if so it would be a shame not to get any more! maybe you could try a hardier variety as i uderstand the pandas can be a bit delicate.

alternatively, kuhli loaches would be fun. they are colourful and thoguh ive never kept them, their antic at the lfs always make me giggle.

ddm18 i have no idea why they died. all my other fish seem perfectly fine, the pandas did too. they were really active and got plenty of food so maybe something in the water was affecting them.

clutterydrawer i was considering khulis. the only thing is i would probably never see them and i believe they are notorious for finding ways out of the tank. i could give them a go i suppose.
and yes i did just switch to sand. but khulis would appreciate that too.

so its either more pandas or khulis.
