Ok, for some reason, i get huge amount of Diatoms in my tank. No one else i know suffers from this at all.
I have extra light on it and no good.
I have real plants and read that they kinda take over this stuff. When i put them in, i had a few snails on there. These have multiplied loads and they eat all the diatoms. My tank has never been so clean, its great.
Only problem is, theres not really much left now, so they are eating the juicy leaves of my plants, im spending lots replacing them all the time and its getting silly.
I have two plecs and two ottos, but they seem to do nothing.

Now do i get a Clown loach to eat all these little snails up, but i dread that the diatoms will come back. If so what can i do!! I cant afford new plants all the time.

What else eats snails that dont get big. I have way too many to catch by hand. I'd never find them all.

Any kind of loach, they all love snails.
If you're getting brown algae, then why don't you balance out your tank with co2 and ferts instead of treating the symptoms? You could do a post in Planted tank, we could help you out with it. :)

Try zebra or yoyo loaches, they dont get too big are pretty chilled out and will soon rid you of your snail prob.

Put a piece of cucumber or zucchini (courgette) in the tank and leave it overnight. In the morning, there should be a bunch of snails on it. Simply take out the veggie, snails and all. I've never tried it, as I've never had that many snails (thankfully), but I've seen other people recommend it.

FYI, Kuhli Loaches don't eat snails (but they are fun fish!).
