Okay, well I bought a 2 gallon tank at a garage sale yesterday. It's green and it's a hexagon tank actually. I want to have a betta in there. But, I live in a rural are and therefore cannot get a small heater and filter to fit the tank size. I was wondering if I should even bother giving it a go without a filter and heater. I plan to have sand and a piece of driftwood, and possibly some java moss. If I do 50% water changes daily can I pull this off? Thanks.

I have a bunch of my bettas in 2 gallon tanks without filters or heaters. Assuming you live somewhere where it's summer now, you should be perfectly fine without a heater until it gets cooler. Even then you don't need one as long as it stays at least 75 degrees in the room the betta's in. 50% water changes every day-- good Lord, lol! Even without a filter, 100% water changes every 3-5 days would be plenty. :)

Well it is quite hot out, but we do have air conditioning and usually all our rooms are quite cool. Ohh and what do you do with the fish when your doing a 100% change?

Okay,

You don't need a filter at all. Most people don't have one with their Bettas. Bettas don't like the current filters make in the tank. And as long as your room stays between 75-82 degrees its fine. If not you could simply buy a heater online ;) I would suggest www.bigalsonline.com ;) Umm ... oh right, as for "What do you do with the fish when you do the 100% water changes" ... just catch the Betta and put it in a small cup or container while you do the water change ;) Just use a a small net or the cup itself :D Okay have fun! :good:
