the Betta Bug bit me!

yup ^^ snow day today, so my mom took me and my brother into Cornwall. i, of course, harass her into taking me to The Pet Store. they are infamous for their wild-type colored Bettas -hails TPS-

so, i was looking at the little trios of Bettas stacked in pyramids, when these two boys on the bottom caught my eye. they were STARING at me and hiccuping. so cute ^^ i HAD to have them both, so i got them both.

so, introducing Spot and Digger! ^^ Spot is a lovely Blue Cambodian-type, his head is yellow with a little diamond shaped black spot dead center on his forehead. his fins are light blue and transparent with small navy speckles all over them, and he's got some blue iridescence on his body. Digger is a wild-type Butterfly. lovely reddish-brown body, then red/navy fins divided into whitish transparency with tiny black spots all over them. he dug a hole in the gravel first thing, and is using it as a safety blanket. both of them were in quite a bit of shock, so they've been covered up to avoid the Boyz prying eyes ^^

oh... i feel so stupid. they were in a shared Aquaview+ (divided, of course!) but i think i did something screwy with the sealant. this morning the water had a whitish film floating IN it, and both of them had clamped fins. so i moved everything but the water and some gravel, after much cleaning, into two seperate vases. they perked up. when i got home, both had died.

... i know it was the Aquaview. they were perfect in their cups, perfect for a few hours in the tank, and then for a little while in the vases... i'm nuking the vase, and becase TPS has a guarantee on fish i'm going to see if i can 'replace' Spot and Digger.

Awwwww gosh... I'm so sorry about that - what a freak thing!! You're not the only one.. my last little girl got sucked up the intake of her tiny little filter. I felt absolutely awful, and still do. I hope you find some wonderful boys to replace them... *hugs*
