I would say that the papers is the best in my area... everywhere is way overpriced in memphis... trying to sell a 125 for 1,500 that is crazy I think

i wouldn't trust getting them online...might get cracked or something. and i woudn't want a used tank. i figure theres gotta be a reason they're gettin rid of it.

Paper is the best way, especially if you have bargain skills and know a lot about prices/tanks. And about 95% of the time, people sell their tanks because they can't handle the responsibility (cleaning/feeding etc). But hey, if you don't mind throwing out money, buy brand new!

if you want a good price the paper is the best way but it may also be a good idea to see it set up and if you have the money a newer tank is always nicce and alot less work

I would say lps because online and ebay is a hard deal because you always have to pick it up, and if they ship it the cost is outstanding. Papers not so much because the chances of them selling a good tank with a decent condition is pretty hard and i never trust anyone with something that is totally glass and must have no leaks.

I put eBay because that's what has worked best for me but I supposed in the US in could be harder to find someone close to you (nowhere is that far in the UK). Ad-papers etc are good too as well as aquarist-classified.co.uk

I have got 2 of my tanks from eBay, 2 from ad mags and I bought one new.

so you'd travel to wick from cornwall to pick up a tank!!!
thats devotion for you!!!

Get in good with your lfs and they'll usually let you know when a used tank is available. The paper is also a good choice.

I'd rather get a tank out of the paper for cost reasons, but I've been looking for about six months and all the tanks near me come with fish. The one's that I've called on I'll either get a response like this, "Well, it's got two silver ones and then a big one" or this "Yeah, it's a 75 gallon tank with 100 feeder goldfish and neon pink gravel" Personally, I don't want to deal with that, so I chose LFS. That way I get to stock it myself.

I would say papers. But, there's bulletin boards at uni and someones selling a 6ft by 2ft by 2ft marine tank with hood, filter, stand, lights, skimmer, etc for $500. I wish I had the room and money because it is a great deal.
