Tonight I moved my fish and plants into the 29-gallon aquarium! Yay! (I also baked bread, did a load of laundry, and washed dishes but those things aren't exactly relevant or exciting (although I did "write" I <heart> U! on one of the loaves of bread).)
I've had the 29-gallon up and running for a few days, trying to figure out how to get more light to it (the hood on it is too short by about four inches and I don't have the money to buy a new one right now). I moved the light bulb from the 10-gallon tank to the 29-gallon tank (yeah, the light fixtures on both are the same length...) and then over the piece of plexi-glass I put the light-fixture for the 55-gallon tank. I'll post a picture later, or perhaps tomorrow, then you'll be able to see what I'm talking about regarding the lighting set-up. Husband is sleeping right now and the camera is in our room - don't want to wake him up. Right now, I have 45 watts of light on the tank. I also put the 10-gallon tank's filter on the 29-gallon so the happy little bacteria in the filter can spread and move to the 29-gallon's filter.
When I have the money, I want to get a new hood and a new filter for the tank, as well as lots more plants and some more fish (anyone have a 30" hood around that they want to get rid of?).
I don't much care for the filter that came with the tank. I believe it's an AquaClear. It says Regent on the top. It's noisy, but I'm not sure if that's because it's old or if AquaClear filters are usually noisy. It works though, so for now it'll be fine.
My fish seemed a little scared at first, but they've started to come out of hiding and swim around some.
As far as fish I'd like to add:
At least a few more Corys
Probably another Oto or two
Khuli Loaches
Upside-down catfish
I don't know what else. Suggestions are welcome. If the fish I've listed aren't compatible with each other or with the fish I have now (Corys, Otos, Neons), please let me know.
That's the latest from here
Edit: Ooooh, this was my 600th post!
