I have an AquaEl external filter, and today I intended to fit a Hydor external heater to the outflow pipe. Naturally, the two were incompatible. Anyway, a quick chat with Mr AE (not sure of the guys first name) and he is ordering an adaptor for me.

I only spoke to Richard yesterday, so I guess we will have to wait a while. I think I have seen the Eheim adaptor on the internet, hope it does the trick. I am trying to get as much hardware out of my tank as I can.

I've never had anything but excellent service from AquaEssentials.

I've got the AquaEl Uni Max 500 from AE and have a Hydor 300W heater fitted into one of the the outflow pipes.
I had no problems fitting the heater into the outflow .... maybe the pipe sizes are different between the 250 and 500 models !

I was meaning to ask you about your set up, Al. Even though yours is a higher output, I suppose you have smaller bore hoses because of the two inlet/outlet arrangement. This is the first time i have used a canister filter and had a little trouble getting a prime on the suction hose. Is there a knack to it?

yeah they're really great, Richards been really helpful when I've been trying to order stuff for Ian and make sure I get what he wants without me uderstanding what half of it is and without Ian finding out!
