I have a 40 Gal(UK) tank which has finally completed cycling (Hooray!) I want to add a few more female mollies as I currently have 3 males and only one very molested female.

After that I was thinking of adding a school of either 6 zebra danios or neon Tetras.

Which should I go for?? :)

I'd go with danios. Less boring than tetras ;) and when they're kept in a group, they shouldn't be aggressive. why not get both? :D

I had read here (TFF) somewhere that Tetras are more difficult to keep or less hardy than Danios. Is that a problem for the novice fish keeper?? :dunno:

To be honest unless you go for wild caught Cardinals both species are gonna be pretty easy.

Like Clutterydrawer said you could aways get both. They've been bred that much they're quite hardy. Jus tkeep an eye on you ammonia and do 50% water changes if it gets too high, works for me ;)

I would not add neons or cardinals just yet as they are sensitive and do better when the tank is a little more mature. However, I would see no problems with then adding a school of both (even at the same time if you are careful, tetras and danios cause very little waste) as the tank is big enough, depending on what else you want.

IMO you need to think about what you want to go in the tank as well as this may influence your decision because not all fish like the zippy danio.

both! their both beautiful fish. I cycled my first 10g with my neons and their all still here.... minus 4 lol. Neons dont have the longest lifespan or the best immune system.i had to find that out the hard way :( but yea if you cycle with neons and they survive, they will be that much hardeyer, well mine were will they were eaten by my two crabs.

I find danios' nonstop swimming around kind of annoying.
I do stop, sometimes :p

Galaxy it is really a matter of personal preferance and
only you can make the choice.
You know what I'd suggest so I won'y say it :p
Although I do think cardinals are better looking than neons
and I also saw some false neons(green tetra) that look stunning.

Thanks for all the advice chaps.

As CS suggested I will have to sit down and seriously think about the final list of fish I would like to have to ensure complete compatibility.

Most Bottom Feeders like acidic water and mollies like slightly alkaline. Does that mean that that I can't add any bottom feeders to my tank which has a natural PH of about 7.2??
