Hi!
I've go to a stage were all my fish (other than my cory catfish) have died of old age. As my only fish are at the bottom of the tank theres a lot of space up top for a shoal or two. I love tetras, they're so beautiful! Bearing in mind that I have a 20 Gallon tank with 6 corys and I am strict with my water parameters and weekly changes, what fish (tetras) would you recommend? And how many?

Thanks!

dimensions of tank?

If suitable tank size, how about Rummy Nose Tetras?

I second the Rummy Nose choice.  Very peaceful and colorful. It is best to have a minimum of 5. 20 gallon is not a good size for giving you much shoaling options, but the frequent water changes help

I don't have a tape measure to hand but off the top of my head I know the length of the tank is 27 Inches, cant remember the width or depth though!

Rather partial to Rummy Nose, spoilt for choice!

27 inches is a bit short for rummy nose tetras, they prefer really long tanks as they love to swim around and they really are doing best at 10+ numbers.

I know it is really a classic choice, but a large school of Cardinal Tetras is really a stunning view.
Not a Tetra but Harlequin Rasboras are really nice as well and school thighter than cardinals.
They also are very beautiful against a planted background.

I do enjoy my harlequin rasboras.  They school tightly, as l_l_l said above, they stay at the upper level of the tank and are very attractive IMO.

Agreed, under 30 inches is a little short for my original choice of Rummys but that did depend on dimension of tank,  but I_I_I's suggestion of Harlequin or even Galaxy Rasboras (they usually take mid to lower level of tank though) but would be good choice for that tank size.
