When i was installing the tank, i put this stuff at the bottom. Its like soil. Gravel then went on top. It says it feeds the plants and keeps them healthy. Has anybody has this stuff in the long term, does it actually do anything?

On one of my smaller tanks I have had it for almost a year, personnally I think it has been good for plant growth compared to having just sand.
