Hey everyone, I have quite a mix of tetras in my tank and I have noticed that a couple of my tetras are being bullied, I think they are the pregnant ones. I have tried to include some pics to show this but there not too good. The ones doing the chasing have bright orange, striking tails but im unsure of the species.

Any advice would be appreciated as I think my tanks is slightly overstocked and I may need to lower the stocks

Right in the middle of the shot you can see one orange tailed fish next to the tetra

In the middle of the shot under the last green plant on the ornament you can see the orange tail swimming with the tetra

all the ones with the brightly coloured tail fins are male guppies. The one that it looks like it's chasing is a female guppy.....which is the reason.

this species breed like rabbits.....more so in fact, and the males are constantly harrassing the females into mating. This is why multiple females should be kept with each male to spread their 'attentions'

tetras? as said they look like guppys, can i ask is that a aloe vera cactus in the middle pic, i have these, but not in my tanks, are they safe?

ah right there guppies then, that ornament is plastic, ill have to get those randy lads out then

or you could remove the female. Lots of people only keep males as they are the most colourful anyway.

good idea, ill do that then theyre a #29### to catch in the net ive been at it for about 20mins haha

Catching fish can be quite difficult! My best advice is NOT to chase them about; that just stresses the fish (and you!). Keep the net still and 'herd' the fish in either with your hand, or preferably a smaller net. You might be able to catch them by chasing them into a jug or ice cream (clean!) with the net :good:
