I've seen some conflicting advice - how many White Cloud Mountain Minnows should I have in the tank? Its just under 8 gallons so if the inch per gallon rule applies thats eight - but the think fish calculator suggest loads more, as they have a light bioload. Any have any thoughts? I've got 5 in my current tank - I was going to add three more of the golden variety - is this ok, any other suggestions?

I personally think 8 will be fine.
It all depends on the setup, is there plenty of open space and current and adequate filtration?

The WCMM should be fine in there as long as there is a wide open swimming space but the back and sides planted with plants to provide shelter if needed. There should be good filtration with a reasonable current as where WCMM come from there water is fast flowing and well oxygenated.

I was going to upgrade the built in waterfall effect tetra filter with a fluval +1 which is rated at 200 l/h and up to 45l to increase the flow. Lots of nice plants too, placed at the back and sides. Sound ok then? (and thanks for the replies, was beginning to think it was a stupid question...)
