I recently bought an api liquid master testing kit as ive been having a few probs lately.

I started testing and my results all seemed fine even in my tap but ive noticed i was using the ammonia test wrong the first time i tested my tap water so i just did another and my tap water reads at 0.25pm and also the same result in my tank.

The problem is that after re reading the test manual ive noticed under testing tips for ammonia that it reads the following.

The freshwater ammonia test color chart is the appropriate chart to use for testing freshwater aquariums to which SALT HAS BEEN ADDED.

The problem is ive never added any salt in my tank so will this mean that my testing for ammonia will be inaccurate?

I understood this just to mean that salt wouldn't affect the results . :good:

Read it the other way, it means if you have added salt this is still the test to use, as opposed to a saltwater kit.

So just to clarify what ya saying is that it makes no differance to the test wether there is salt in the water or not.

No difference at all, but obviously you wouldn't use it for a marine tank, you would use a salt water kit.

cool thanks guys now does anyone have any advice on getting my ammonia levels down.

Are ammo-carb or ammo chips of any use?
