Test Tube Cleaning

I am currently cleaning my test tubes after an ammonia test by rinsing them under a cold tap then drying them with toilet tissue right down to the bottom.

Is this sufficient to remove traces of old ammonia or do I need to do something else?

I used to do that - then my other half told me to stop as tissues leave tiny bits of fibre in the tube when you pull them out. So now i just rinse them with warm water, then shake them and dry the outside and store them back in the box with the lid on. To stop any dust getting in.

Perfect. just swap the bog roll for kitchen towel & you are shiney.

I just rinse mine out under running water and leave to dry - never had any problems!

Personally, i have stopped shaking them as they dont bounce very well!

I rinse mine, dry the outside, put the lid on the wrong end and let them stand upside down to dry.

I just rinse mine in tap water and let them dry. If I want to do any things where I'm comparing very trace things I have a bottle of distilled water which I use as a test tube rinse prior to those tests. WD

many thanks for all the advice. I think I will just rinse them and let them stand to dry instead of using bog roll.
