Hi all. I am looking for a good test kit to buy OH as a gift. There is one major problem with every one I have found not just for him but for 10% of the male population... They all are totally useless if you are colour blind! It may just be the shops near me only sell ones with colour coding but I'm looking for one that he can use himself rather than waiting for me or someone else to be about to read it for him. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be hugely appreciated. It's the trivial pursuit argument all over again....

The JBL tests make colour matching MUCH easier sometimes but I really can't see any other system unless you look at electronic systems which are expensive. Electronic PH pens are fairly cheap so that would be a start but you have to be carefull calibrating them and the sensors don't last forever but sometimes can be replaced. There is a fantastic writeup somewhere on the net.

What colours is he blind to?

He is protonope so mainly red/green but he has trouble distinguishing hues and colour matching (for example I might see hundreds of colours on a tree in autum, he is lucky to see two). This means anything with colour matching is pretty much a no go for him. It's not the end of the world if I have to test for him I just thought seeing as it's meant to be a present for him it should be something he can actually use. People just don't think of these things when designing products!!
