Hi,

I had one large (black) and one medium size (white) angel fish who have lived together for about a year and get on fine...
About 6 months ago I added another large angel fish and the black on I already had didnt seem to like this so I rehomed the one I added.
I put it down to the size of the angels and them both wanting to be th bigger/better one.
Today I added a couple more smaller angel fish but the big black one seems to have taken a disliking to any fish I add to the tank, no matter what size they are....
Is there any way I could make him less territorial or does he just need a tank of his own?

Please Help :(

Angels like all cichlids can be territorial, particularly when they have been in the tank for a while, he gets on with the smaller one as I assume they were added together when small?

What size is the tank and what other fish do you have.

One of the recommended ways to introduce new fish (again particularly cichlids) is to remove the fish (bag them), then completely rearrange tank decor, then add the new fish to the tank to allow them to settle, then an hour or so later, add the existing fish back in, hopefully putting them all on an even keel in establising new territories.

The black one was added first, he was origially added with another one but the second one didnt survive so I replaced him with a smaller one... They got on fine from day one and even laid some eggs (which came to nothing)...

My tank is 3ft (94ish litres i think) which has 4 angel fish, a plec which is less than an inch long and about 6 mollies which are all about half an inch long...

I may redecorate and see how that goes down but I dont really have many different items to put into the tank...
