I've just bought a small terracotta pot to put into my tank to which i'm going to cover in java moss(when it arrives), it has a small hole in the bottom of the pot approx 1cm in diameter, should i block this up with aquraium safe silicone sealer or will it be ok as it is? I've mainly bought it for my bristlenose and i don't want him or any other fish to get stuck in the hole.

Many thanks,

Mark.

Are you planning on putting the pot on its side?

What I did with my terracotta pot was cut it in half, right down the center through the hole.

Then I just placed both halves of the pots on their sides.

I have a BUNCH of caves and stuff in my tank, both big and small, and I never had any fish get stuck in any of them.

I would not worry about the hole, if it is too small, your fish will not go through it. :good:

Thanks FHM, :good:

Yeah i'm going to put it on it's side, i would cut it in half but don't have the room in my tank for 2 caves :( , too many plants and a lump of bogwood, so i'm just going to keep it whole and cover it in moss.

Once again many thanks,

Mark.

Your welcome! ;)

You should be just fine keeping the pot the way it is.

If you don't have room for two halves, you could bury the pot almost halfway in the substrate and get a nice look too.
