i was killing some time and popped into home bargins today and they have some gorgeous terracotta garden ornaments i bought a pagoda about 8 inches high for 99p, i couldnt resist that bargin, would it be ok for the tank?

Do you have a picture? I would maybe be wary of something if it is painted and not specifically labelled to be safe/non-toxic. I personally tried to avoid anything not specifically for fish when i still purchased ornaments, though i would often be tempted by unique things.

You could always try eating some yourself, if you feel ok afterwards i would imagine it would be fine in the tank :p

PS. Just to clarify to anybody reading this, for the love of all that is holy please do not attempt to eat any terracotta ornaments, they're really bad for your teeth.

i have dentures so will remove them doing as you suggested

and no its not painted

If it's just plain terracotta I would have thought they would be okay.

Yep, what Cezza said. There are loads of terracotta aquarium ornaments out there; i just kind of assumed the garden ornament would be painted, i guess it kind of makes sense that it isn't.

Like i say though, if you want to be really sure there is alway the taste test..........

hopefully it will look ok in the tank, if not then i have other plans :)
