So I've been interested in fish for FOREVER, and I used to have a lot of tanks when I was little. I haven't had an actual tank since I was 11, though I just got a couple of bettas a little over six months ago. I've been keeping them in regular plastic bowls, which I know isn't the best for them, but they're both very healthy.

I finally have the ability to set up an actual tank, but I'm limited to a ten-gallon. What I was planning to do is move one of my bettas into the ten-gallon, and buy about three corys and move them in as well. Does this sound like a set-up that could work? I don't wanna kill my fish... x____x

10G is perfect for a Betta and you could add 5-6 Cories with no problems.

Hi xxgabi,

Sounds like a plan, but the part of putting fish in a tank is probably 4 to 6 weeks down the road if you do it right. Have you read the articles pinned at the top of this forum? The one about fishless cycling is the most important - maybe you were planning to do that. Do some reading of articles, follow along on people's beginner questions and how they get answered and after a while you will get that great feeling that you now know how to give your fish a safe and healthy start!

The members here are great and I've experienced how their advice really works - choosing good equipment and knowing the water chemistry skills, the basic ones, is a great start prior to refining your fish stocking list.

Great reply Waterdrop! :good:
Sorry xxgabi, I should have mentioned to make sure you cycle the tank first

Ah, yeah, yeah, I know everything about the cycling and whatnot. I'm confident about getting the tank set up all right, the only thing I'm not sure about is what would be acceptable as far as stocking it goes.

I'm excited that my plan might work out... I've always wanted corys, but I'd feel bad setting up a real tank and not letting my baby get out of his bowl. Thanks for the help! n_n
