Hi,

I have recently moved my fish into their new tank. Since the weekend the temperature has continued to go up. When I moved the fish, the temp was stable at 26.5c. Now it is reading 29c. I have turned the lights off (been off since 5pm last night), the heater only kicks in if the temp drops to 26c. The tank itself is in the corner, out of direct sunlight.

I have the windows in the room open, and the heat off. Is there a way to get the temperature down that I'm missing? What is the max temperature for tropical fish?

There was something on here about could you turn the heater off in summer and someone suggested filling a bottle with water freezing it and placing it in the tank.

What is the temperature of the room?

Also you say it is in the corner is it a outside wall that gets a lot of sun? our wall gets warm on the inside.

I would also check the accuracy of your thermometer if its the strip type they can be wrong we have a glass in tank one.

Yeah I would always check the temp with a different thermometer too, to be sure that the temp is accurate before worrying too much.

The room is at 20c. I have two thermometers in at the moment, both giving the same reading. The wall feels fine.
