Hi,

I have recently moved my fish into their new tank. Since the weekend the temperature has continued to go up. When I moved the fish, the temp was stable at 26.5c. Now it is reading 29c. I have turned the lights off (been off since 5pm last night), the heater only kicks in if the temp drops to 26c. The tank itself is in the corner, out of direct sunlight.

I have the windows in the room open, and the heat off. Is there a way to get the temperature down that I'm missing? What is the max temperature for tropical fish?

Post this in tropical discussion more members go over there.

What type of thermometer is it?? (Strip on outside of glass/ Inside glass?)

The fish will be alright at 29 but tend to be in 25-27. > The sudden increase is what causes the shock.

Is there a thermometer to read on the actual heater?

I have two in the tank atm. One is digital, and the other is a mercury thermometer. The heater lights up when it is working.

By sudden increase, what do you mean? Some times it falls to 28.c, then rises to 29c, all in a matter of mins.
