Currently I'm seeing between a .5 to 1 degree (farenhieght) drop in temperature at night. I would like to know how much is too much.

If 1 degree is no problem I will not be putting in a second heater at this time, which is my biggest reason for asking.

1 degree at night isn't a problem at all.

Freshwater fish experience temperature fluctuations similar to that in nature.

Im not sure about marine, since the ocean is very very very very big and may moderate the temperature better.

I've seen my freshwater 80 gallon go from 80 F to 69 F within 4 hours and no problems at all.

Well, I'm glad that people have said that because I went ahead and returned the other heater instead of exchanging it. :)

I now have a $29.00 credit at Petsmart (no reciept so instore credit) after buying a replacement pump for my python. :) No fish though, they didn't have anything that I wanted. :(

Yea that's nothing... I would get worried if it was something like a 5F change either way in the space of an hour (or less than that)
