I've read the post on the differences between different types of bettas. I can't tell the difference between a female VT from a Plakat. I understand that there that the symmetry is off in a Female VT while the Plakats have a perfect symmetry. How else can I tell the difference. Im guessing since my Female Betta cam from Wal Mart, she is a VT.

Please, Please...correct any mistakes I made in describing the two type.

Thanks

if i recall correctly, a female will have a little white dot protruding from her stomach--this is called the ovipositor and is what she uses to release eggs.

i've no clue on how you can tell the different tail-types on females. do you remember what it said on the cup you bought her in?

I kept the cup incase I needed it for travelling later on cause Im on campus. But all it says on there is "Female Betta UPC #80259"

And that white dot...I used to think that was Ich since one of my other fish had it. Man did I feel stupid after finding out what it really was. haha.

Not all immature males have false ovipositors. In fact, most don't.

As far as telling the different between plakat and veil females, it's really difficult... I've heard the VT females have a longer, more pointed anal fin :dunno:

Edit: I guess you could look at my sig to tell the difference. Blue isn't VT but super delta, but the difference in the length and shape of the anal fin is the same. Mini is a plakat; see how much shorter her anal fin is?
