Hi, o.k cycling me 240ltr tanganyika tank deciding what to stock it with and really struggling. Can some experienced aquarists give me some great combos? I love the shellies esp punks but also love the 5 bar mini fronts. I like the colourful cyps and daffodils. I also like the calvus. I know I can't have them all in one tank but can anyone give me some good options??

Tell me your dream tank?........

What question you asking mate?

Our dream tanks, or what to stock yours with? lol

i have a 240 in cycleing aswell im gonna na with snakeheads but thats just me

Nice tank :good: I could run riot with that in the house

As for stockin the 240ltr, Cyps in the open water, a few rocks at one end with the Calvus you like and then either sand sifters on the bottom in the big open space or a shell bed with some shell dwellers, OR rocks both ends , cyps, punks, calvus :good:

Thanks, just looking for some good combos. Yes Kiriyama sounds good. I keep hearing mix reviews about these calvus that they can eat shellies even adults! I obviously wouldn't put a full grown one in with juv shellies but still cautious. Think I'm going for 2 shellies like ornatipinnis if I can get or Kungweensis or multis. 3 Cyps, 2 punks and maybe 1 calvus and I might dare a single N.lamp Tret and hope he behaves as he gets older, I have lots of holey ocean rock nooks and crannies and shells. :hey:

The calvus will take forever to grow so i wouldnt worry about it. I have a pair of 4" goldheads and they leave my shellies alone.

Thanks Bullit, that's reassuring to know. So done a bit more research and these cyps should be in larger group so think I'll skip the jumbos and get 6 little ones to start with, 3 shellies 1m and 2f I've read is best. Should I get 3 punks too??? Is this sounding correct? Glad I've not bought any yet on impulse cos I'd have got it wrong 10 times over

yeah you want non jumbo anyway and a 10-12 is a good number. Shellie wise just depends what you go for as some will just pair off. Punks i think will pair off aswell. If you want to breed them then you want 6 and wait till a pair forms and return the rest.
