Violet Gobies are filter feeders, so why has this one suddenly sprouted fearsome looking teeth?

I'd not noticed them before, and there's no sign of them on older photos.
Maybe it's a maturity thing?

My my, Grandma, what big teeth you have...

Wow...pretty sure mine doesn't have those.I was watching him feed just a day or so ago and he stretched his mouth into a big round O shape...no sign of teeth. But he's still small and probably pretty young.

Perhaps yours was just having a bit of Halloween fun

He has lovely dentition

Our Dragon Gobies are 14" long and we have eight of them, all toothless. That one of yours looks very scary, check the rest of the fish in his tank to see if he`s stolen someones falsies!!

We did a bit of trawling on Google, and it seems that the teeth are normal.

Thank goodness for that!
