Teeth

I had one until recently, and mine had teeth like that. Great pics

I'm pretty sure the minions only have freshwater tanks so if thats right no they don't need brackish.

I think there's a freshwater variety too, which is hard to find, but the one in the pics looks like brackish to me.

lol, think about that, and all the puffers they have, im pretty sure they'll hav some brackish tanks

The minions' dragon gobies are freshwater/brackish, and they keep them in fresh :) I believe there are three kinds, from brackish, to brackish/fresh, to just fresh :D

Do Violet Gobies have to be kept in brackish water or can they be kept in a normal tropical tank?
Yes, all of our tanks are freshwater.
There are actually three species of Violet Goby,
  • Gobioides grahamae is rarely seen for sale. Is a lot shorter and more lightly built than the other two, has no stripes and although not predatory, is very aggresive towards other fish of both the same & other species. It is found in the brackish to full marine waters of the Amazon Delta. A freshwater enviroment will quickly kill it.

  • Gobioides broussonnetii is a true brackish fish, and will suffer if kept in freshwater. It likes to be kept in groups and has strong, dark, verical bands along the length of the body. This is the fish that is most commonly seen for sale in fish stores, although nearly always advertised as a freshwater fish.

  • Gobioides peruanus can be found in freshwater rivers and water systems far inland, but is equaly at home in mild brackish water. It is more heavily built than the other two species and more territorial than Gobioides broussonnetii but less aggresive than Gobioides grahamae.
It lacks the bold vertical striping of Gobioides broussonnetii and has a larger head. Gobioides peruanus is often sold incorrectly as Gobioides broussonnetii, which does it no harm as it is equaly at home in brackish or freshwater.
We have had two Gobioides peruanus in our freshwater community tank now for some time, they appear to be thriving
Beware assuming that a fish without dark banding must be Gobioides peruanus, because a Gobioides broussonnetii kept in freshwater will lose its stripes as a stress reaction.
