Tearing Fins

Hey,

My male betta's fins are tearing and the plant in his tank is not slilk. I'm saving up something for my dog so ill buy the plant at the same time. How long can he wait until I go to the pet store? He's pretty healthy other than the tearing.

betta plants have to be silk or live. if its not just take it out and get one next time your at your lfs.

So they can live without decor? There's not anything else in the tank other thank gravel and water.

ok, so what if I can't go for a while could I take it out then put it back in?

do you have any slate rock or anything you can kinda make a cave like thing with? they just need something to hide in.

Well, I have a rock in my 10 g. I think that I could put in there. I geuss that works!

Since he already has s torn up fins make sure you keep the water super clean so he doesn't get fin rot.

you may also want to add some extra stresscoat or melafix for his fins to help repair faster.

yeah, if the plant is the culprit, i'd say get it out!!!! no need for him to get more torn up that he already is.

maybe you can put a painting or post card or something nice around the outside of his tank for a distraction in the meantime.

order some small plants via internet from your favourite pet store.

I have been a little chicken about putting meds in my tanks because I had to use ick treatment, then everything died . I'll try once again. See Gills is my little brothers betta but I take care of it because he's still a little young for fish keeping I don't want to kill his betta.
