hello all, i am buying my self a tds tester, i am just wondering what tds should i be running my african cichlid tank at?

i have heard i can run it from 800 to 1100, is this correct?

unless someone is completely obsessive/compulsive anal retentive about their tanks, there is no need for a total disolved SOLIDS tester.
general test kits that test for multiple hardness is enough.
do not over think your water or you run the risk of 1 wasting money on unnecessary testers, 2 over compensating with buffering or other chemicals to get the water "just right".

I've never heard of someone testing a freshwater tank...sorry!

tds= total dissolved salts

is there anyone that knows about tds?
I knew perfectly what it was....(in fact I'm researching info on doing a SW someday) and I was just saying that I've never heard of anyone who tested freshwater for that....

and I don't think it needs to be tested for that!
