Hello people,

Thinking out loud agin on this one again...

... On my 400L tank I run one external and one internal filter, on the internal filter I have added an air pump
tapped into the venturi wich creates huge amounts of bubbles. :D

Now with my new spray bar in place Im getting some good surface aggitation, but cannot lift it any higher to get more force,
so what Im wondering is, could I add an air pump to the external filters spray bar to create the same kind of effect as im getting in my internal filter?!

Ta,

sam.

If you took the trouble to tap an air line into the return on your external filter, I am sure you could get a good bubbling effect from the spray bar. My question would be why you want to do that. If you like the look of it that would be fine but is there some other reason you would want it? If all you want is to oxygenate the water, it will do more good to point the spray bar so that it causes ripples in the water surface than any amount of bubbles will do.

Ok I may try it one day then thanks :) really just for the look (and of course gas exchange) plus I like the sound, like a tropical down pour
Sussed it now though, managed to raise the spray more , seriosly bubbling :D oscar seems to love it too!

Yes i have done this for over a year if its near the top yours isn't you can get away with simply a piece of tube sticking out the otlet top rising above water level but only works for around 1" below surface after that i find power required

why not just get an air pump, it would be far easyer with no chance of leakage if the joint doesn't hold.

Just got rid of my internal heaters favouring an external , so im loving the clean look and dont really want to run hoses up the end of the tank tbh :)

Happy with what ive got now though>
