this wood i bought said let it soak for a while, well i read this after rinsing it and adding it to my tank. its planted and small. i hope "tannin" isnt bad for my tank because it looks absoutly AMAZING! it has given it a very brackish look and i have 1 halfbeak happily living in the tall grass munching away at bloodworms. when i take the hood off and use my desk lamp, the tank becomes so green and natural looking.

good or bad?

Fish actually like tannins IMO. In truth its neither good or bad simply coloring from the wood. Some people like the coloring some don't.

Tannin is harmless. It can be annoying because some wood will make the water look almost like mud. Even after boiling and soaking my wood, it still turned my tank slightly brown. I liked the effect, too, and I was a bit disappointed when it cleared up after a month or so.
