i just have a quick question about tanks. i currently have a 10 gallon tank and i have 1 cremesicle lyre tail molly, 2 black-skirted tetras, 1 Cory catfish, and 1 mickey mouse platy. Sadly my black molly fell to columnaris yesterday. im thinking of buying a longer tank and putting it where the 10 galon is nd taking the 10 gallon to my room. should i move the fish to the new tank or keep them in the 10 gallon? if i keep them in the 10 gallon them im going to convert the new tank to a cichlid tank. could anyone tell me some good tips for setting up this tank and if this is a good idea?

It would be nice to move the fish you have to a bigger tank. Or you could just move a few that would work with your new fish. How big do you want to go? I would move the black skirt and cory then get more corys and buy some peaceful mid size or dwarf cichlids.

Wat do you mean? could you elaborate a little more? currently the biggest tank at my LFS is a 37 gal. and i was thinking I'll move my Cory, mickey mouse, and black skirts to the new tank and get 3 more black skirts and 3 more cories. for a centerpiece i thought i would add a couple of dwarf cichlids and in the 10 gallon add maybe a school of glo-fish, 2 of each color. does that sound good?

I don't know where you are from but I would look on craigslist for a bigger tank. I have a 36 gal and it was not big enough so i now have a 55 gal and I still want bigger.

any ways since its a 37 gal I would do this.

37 gal
2 black skirts you have + 2 more so 4
the one cory + 4 so 5
2 Bolivian rams
1 angle or dwarf flag cichlid or keyhole not all just pick one.

That is what I would do Then with the 10 gal

10 gal

Keep the molly and platy and add 5 glo fish
really I would not try to do a school in such a small tank.
So in stead

1 molly 2 platy ( same sex)
and a dwarf gourami
Then turn it into a well planted tank that would look great.

Do you add salt to your tank because I think mollies need it ,without it they die.....I think that's what'd happend to your molly

Mollys do better in brackish water but can live in fresh. But yeah mollies do better and live longer in brackish.
