Tanks With White Gravel

Hey guys, just wondering if those of you with tanks that have white gravel could post them up and show me as I'm wondering which way to go with my tank setup.

Here is mine, please post yours up so I can get some ideas of what looks good etc.

(My tank is 2nd hand and came with white and can't really be bothered changing it.

Funny story... I got really drunk for the first time after 6 months of sobriety at some house party and ran into one of the bedrooms wearing nothing but a rubbish bag and flippers. I picked up 2 dolls and a pair of nickers and tried to light the tanin water stained undergarments on fire. Turns out they were incased in so much fecal matter they wouldnt light... So i threw the undies in a tree and ran home with the dolls.

heres mine, i had white sand in it when i first set it up. I got fed up with it though, as it didn't bring the fish's colour out at all. Infact it drained them of colour. Some fish actually need darker substrate to make them feel at ease in thier surroundings. As you'll see in my thread, i change the substrate about 3 weeks in. Something i wish i have done in the first place as i lost a school of Harlequins doing so.

I have white sand in one of my tanks.

I was advised it would get dirty, but I had very light sand in another tank which was OK, so I gave it a go. It does get very dirty with algae and I have to hoover the top layer away most weeks.
I much prefer black and I will be changing to that shortly.

i'm not a fan of white gravel or sand TBH. i feel my gravel is a bit too light. as ianho said, it makes a lot of fish uneasy, the glare takes the colour out of the fish, and makes it harder to take good photos.

that's just my opinion though
