generally you dont want to mix old world and new world cichlids. they have different parameter requirements.

I understand this, its hard though, sometimes when you see a fish that you like and think, I'll have that. I'm sure many people are the same.

I'm a stickler for trying to keep fish in the correct water parameters and not mixing unsuitable fish but they prefer a lower PH like the Sevs, Keyholes etc.
Waynee!!!! Keyholes can be boring! Go wash your mouth out with soap and water!

Sorry stang1. What i meant was that they are generally so peaceful that you hardly notice them. Is that better? lol

I set up a 48G biotope for my pair of Keyholes as they weren't happy being in the bigger tank with my more "active" fish.
I keep them with Corydoras Melanistius and Pristella Tetras and they are a lot happier.

Mine seem very happy, nothing bothers them and they don't bother anything. Even the Firemouths leave them alone which is surprising really. I have a breeding pair which i'm tempted to move to my breeding tank but need to wait til the acara fry have grown up a bit moved to another tank and sold off.

Blue Acara is another favourite of mine but then I love most Cichlids!

I've got around 100 free swimming Blue Acara fry at the mo. Its really nice to see some reward from the work involved. The Sheephead Acara is a lovely little fish. I had a pair of them but gave them to my friend. They were on the verge of getting bullied by the Blue acara.

Well ive taken 12 keyholes out of the tank along with the krib and they've gone to my LFS. Got £20 for them, not bad i thought. My tank looks so bloody empty now. Not sure whether ir was such a good idea but there we go. Done now. Ive moved the decor around cos i'm getting more plants this week so that will fill a space. Wondering what fish to buy now!
