Would any New World be able to live with African Cichlids?
Such as both sets being the peaceful community loving types?

Sorry for the stupid question thanks in advance :)

would also like to know. im planning on getting some disus. and i have 3 africans. but i also wanna know about a peacock eel, knifefish and swordtail. if theyd get along or not

as a rule i think its best not to mix cichlids from different areas. ie africans with new worlds. ive even read that its best not to mix malawi with tanangyika even tho both are african

Discus are extremely sensitive fish both in water quality and tankmates. A tank with discus is best set up around the discus and not with existing stock. I would have thought african cichlids wouldn't work due to the water chemistry preferences and the general boisterous attitutudes of african cichlids.

It would also help to know which african cichlids you have.

Some people do mix new world and old world cichlids, however as mark said its generally not recommended.
Not sure on what you mean when you say 'Such as both sets being the peaceful community loving types?' but african and NW cichlids are generally too aggressive for the average community tank, there are exceptions but without knowing the specific cichlid it would be unwise to say you can put them in a community tank, as the majority are unsuitable.

It was just my take on species like kribensis, brichardi electric blue johanni, Rusty, python Is.
Those Africa would maybe fair well with again im just picking a few species out here: Bolivian Ram, Flags, German Blue, Surinam Geo, Tbar and Threadfin Acara?

I dont have any yet im setting up a new tank and researching, only confirmed tankmate so far would be 3 bristlenose plecs.
