Im working on a new tank that will be inside another tank so it looks like the fish are swimming together. So roughly the inside tank will be 100 and the outside will be roughly 150. Soing this so i can put probably peaceful fish in one tank and aggresive fish in the other one. And make it look like they are swimming together. So any ideas on stocking? Not sure what fish will be in what tank so you can give ideas for both tanks. And see what works.

The outside tank will be displaced by the volume of the inside tank so your outside will be roughly 50 so stocking in the outside tank would be based on a 50 with those dimensions, whatever they turn out to be.

A diagram would help you figure it out.

Also you need to be careful putting a tank inside a tank, the weight of the internal tank will not get displaced properly through the other tank.

As Chad mentioned you would have water misplaced as well - what are the dimensions of the tank you are thinking of?

Wills

Hmm, intriguing idea.

I have a concern though, if the aggressive fish are in the outside tank and the inside tank taking up space, won't that mean much less swimming space and awkward swimming around corners and injuries may occur.

Hope that makes sense.

Might be better with small fish in outside tank, like galaxies rasboras and a few aggressive fish in the inside tank might seem a bit more feasible.

Just depends on what stocking possibilities you were thinking of that may make the difference.

Also how you planning to heat and filter these 'two' tanks without all the wires and pipes spoiling the look?

Just suggestions is all.

Im still working on the design itself. Ill try to draw a diagram but im kinda lame at that. But no the "outaide tank" would be about 150 and the inside would be 100. A total of 250 gallons. But in a way the fish would have to swim around. Let me do a drawing but its defenetly not drawn to scale..

it wont be 250 gallons if the 100 gal is inside the 150....

This is kinda the idea... And defenetly not to scale

What the OP is saying is the inner tank will hold 100 (litres or gallons) and the outer tank will, regadless of displacement, hold another 150 (litres or gallons) lol......So a 250 (litre or gallon) tank divided off into 2 tanks

I got what they meant, seemed easy to understand to me lol

Heating and filtration in doable, as is hiding stuff.
