Tank Wipeout

Sounds like it then sorry for all your losses R.I.P.

sam do you know how to keep the bacteria alive in a tank while im waiting to restock?

just keep the whole tank running the bacteria will decrease as there is no ammonia or nitrate for it to feeb upon.
when you come to restock build up very slowly.
every fish you add will send tank through a small cycle.
test for amonnia and nitrite after every addition, when the levels go back down to zero the cycle has finished you can move on.
whilst empty continue with water changes as you are doing
the key to it is to remember that every thing you add or do to your tank will have an impcat.
the bacteria in your filters will adjust to what is going on in your tank and your tank is constantly cycling, so they naturally increase and decrease.

the polyfilter has taken about a week to get the stuff out of my tank, my last loss was 3 days ago,but am not going to add anything for a couple of weeks.

Hope this helps

Sam

keep your bacteria alive by adding daily the proper amount of ammonia your bacteria can currently handle until you're ready to restock.

I wouldn't keep the bacteria alive.
I would strip the tank down and sterlise everything.
Do a fishless cycle, one of those fish have brought something nasty into the tank.

Sorry but I wouldn't risk keeping the tank going without knowing what killed all them fish, it not worth the risk.
I would just start again.

thanks for all your repleys. Found the last cherry shrimp dead this morning so nothing left. some good news is i now have a chance of getting a bigger tank which has been offered to me (20 gallon) so im gonna start from scratch this weekend with the new tank ill need to get a bigger filter and heater so yes im starting from scratch again
