I always wondered if there was a limit to how much rock you could put in your tank.

My tank is 2' tall, 4' wide, and 18" deep, i'm pretty sure thats 100 gallons.

yea i have a floating base tank and ive still piled loads of rocks in with no trouble at all.

jus remember to place any rocks directly on the glass and not on the substrate.

otherwise your fish could dig under them causing it to be unstable or even fall.

Cheers for the advice Sam, i always have put my rocks and decor on top of the substrate, but that's a really good point!

i have a custom undergravel filter
supported by pvc pipes under it, plastic grate on top, with a screen over it.
powered by 1 powerhead at each end of the tank

and the tank is tempered, that would really be a bummer if the tank cracked, it would crack into about a million chunks of glass...

thanks

a screen?

what do you mean by that?

UGF are kinda old school now neway, id look to get a HOB filter atleast. at the moment all that crap is jus building up under your substrate where as you can get it all out when you clean a HOB or external.

no probs paul :)

well if your tank is fully supported from below then you coul have your tank full of stones.

to be serious, you need to place a sheet of styrofoam under any stones you place in the tank, so any sharp edges are protected.
