Tank Turnover

hopefully picking up a 5*2*2.5. i have a 4*2*2 i was thinking of using as a sump whick gives volumes of 600 & 400ltrs respectivly so thats 1000ltrs in all. now i want to plant it so shud my turnover be 5 times the total volume. or 5 times the volume of the main tank. also any body know how many 3 watt led's would be needed or would metal halide be a better option

I'd say 5-10x turnover, taking account of any powerheads you place in the main tank. Plants need a decent circulation, especially if you are dosing ferts and a carbon source to go with moderate-high lighting.

sorry do you mean 5-10x 1000 or 600. i will be stocking with cpd,s scarlet badis ottos cory habrosus hara jerdoni cheka dadiburjori rice fish some loaches family name spinnefers i think. probably about 100 fish obviously there is room for more but i dont know what yet.. anyway giben that the sump tank is 16cubic foot its massivley oversizedso i wa.s thinking of sectioning. it off into breeding/growing on tanks aswell so queation is how many cubic ft of filtration is enough for a fully stocked tank of this size. the breeder/grower tanks will be incorporated into the dystem so volume will be the same. i still want it over filterd but cant see the point in wasting alot of tank space. also i was thinking about the variouse sections of a filter and foams in one k1 in another ceramic rings in the third and filter wool/ polishing in the last is th. mamere better filter mediums any other suggestions on tiny stock filtratiin greatly appreciated and led's sorry bout the spelling the fone is struggling with the massive post
