I've had fish for a while and I recently did some reading on overcrowding and about plecos. I have a 10 gallon tank with 1 pleco and 4 other fish.

I have 2 goldfish:

2 of these guys:

And this is my pleco he is like 5-6 inches long now:

So I looked around this forum I'm pretty sure I should get my pleco out of my tank, how should I do this and do I just give him to a store like Petco? What should I get to replace it? Also is my tank too small even for my 4 fish...

I've been kind of blind about my fish but I want to fix that now so please if you guys could educate me that would be great.

hi welcome to the forum,
firstly you should either get a bigger tank for the plec it needs at least a 4 foot tank and also a heater since they are tropical not coldwater.
if you cannot get a bigger tank i would as soon as you can take him back to a pet store or someone who has a big enough tank to house it.

1 gold fish needs 30 gallons,
2 gold fish need 40 gallons,
4 need 50-60 gallons

what are you hoping to have replaced?
it wasn't quite clear

Fancy goldfish stay small and can be kept in smaller tanks - personally I'd look around the 90L mark.

10o5 is partly right. Fancy goldfish like you have do not get as big as a comet would, but I saw a 55 gallon tank with 4 in it today at a friend's house. Those 4 fish were filling the tank. A 55 gallon holds almost 200 litres. Each of the fancy goldfish had a body length between 6 and 8 inches long and much bigger around than a comet would have been at that length. When they were all at one end of the tank, because we were at that end, most of the tank looked empty but the corner with the fish in it looked very full.
