Hi Guys

I have a 6 month old Caymen Scenic tank with 2 x 18w Phillips Tubes, one is a Aquarelle and the other a AquaSky that came with the tank, My tank has a few living plants in too.

The problem I have is when the lights come on, the fish, which are Golden Barbs and Red Phantom Tetras dive for cover under the filter box, are the lights too bright ? if so what can I do?

When the lights are off the fish seem to swim merrily around.

Help as always is much appreciated.

Regards

Lee

How many gallons is that? It's not likely to be a problem, if your fish come back out again fairly shortly after. Adding more live plants and hiding places will make them feel more secure and less vulnerable, especially if the tank is newish. Check for other possibly causes of stress, ie, water quality, that may add to your fishes skittishness?

36W of light is a fairly low light level for 150L. If they do eventually come out again I wouldn't worry about it. I'd probably jump too if it was pitch black and then blinding (it will be if your eyes are night adapted) light suddenly materialised overhead and beats down with the power of the midday sun! :)
