I have a 50 gallon tank in my closed patio, and it hasn't been used in quite a while. I have recently found great liking into bettas, and became interested in breeding them. I've read tons of websites on it, but none of them say if a 50 gallon is good or too big to be breeding betta.I know it will be harder to clean and maintain since it is in one big area, and even if I buy dividers the babies might slip through the cracks <--? I also don't want to tire out the male too much by making him swim all the way across the tank to pick up some fry that have drifted off.

Buying a smaller tank will be pretty hard since my mom doesn't want to buy one, but she's agreed to let me breed betta. She thinks the 50 gallon is good enough, but I don't know. :(

In the wild they have a lot more space than 50 gallons. So I would say there is no such thing as a too big tank.

Oh yeah the 55 would be great, i read somewhere that someone used a 55. the best thing about it imo would be not having to transfer fry during growout. feeding might be harder at first if the fry are spread apart. But it would probably be less stressful on the fish anyways.

Ahh, thank you so much!! :D :D :D I've read somewhere that I can train them by turning the lights on so they come to the surface to get food. Maybe that will help. ;)
