Tank Temperature

Have had my tank set at 26 for nearly 3 weeks. it has sat at 27 on thermometer. i have just looked and it now says 31. all fish are fine, i have now turned it down to 24

Should the thermometer be jumping up to 31. Its not like i live in the carribean lol

It certainley should not be jumping up like that! Changes in temperature can cause stress to the fish and you should reduce the temperature slowly, like 1 degree a day, but i think you may have a faulty heater there. Keep a very close eye on that! GRJ

I find that Aquaone heaters tend to be 3 - 5 degrees off.

mines is a elite 200 watt. unless the thermometer is faulty, will put another therm in and see if it reads the same
