Hey all. I have a 33 gallon tank. It has very soft water, and a Ph that ranges between 6.8 and 7.
It is a planted tank, but no CO2 at all, just some fertilizer balls that do wonders. None of the plants I have need a lot of care (thank god hehe).
Livestock: 1 5" male BN Pleco
5 Colombia tetras
2 zebra danios
1 longfin blue danio
Filtration: 1 70 Aquaclear Filter and 1 50 Aquaclear filter
Temp: 25C
All the fish I have are full grown and peaceful.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated, thank you. :D

I'd add a few more danios, if I were you, as I think they do better in larger groups. Then maybe a school of cardinals or rummynose tetras (6-8), some hatchetfish would be nice, say 5 of those. Maybe some serpae tetras for a nice shot of color, or some dwarf rainbowfish. Those are really pretty.
I guess it'd be easier if you tell us whether you want schooling fish, a "centerpiece" fish, livebearers or not, that kind of thing. Otherwise, I'd go with the hatchets and a group of dwarf rainbowfish.
HTH!

Hatchet fish sound kinda cool.
I have had limitless problems with danios. They are very weak in my experience, and I would rather stay away from them. I might even trade the ones I have in for something else. They seem quite content and happy, however.
I would rather have a centerpiece sort of fish, like just one or 2.

I'm just concerned about them getting too large for the 33 gallon tank. I read they can get quite big. My tank is 36 long, 18 high, and 12 wide. That's in inches btw.

If you're not so happy with the danios, I'd take them in and trade them for maybe the hatchets. I also think an angel would be great... or a single or even a nice trio of pearl gouramis. They're beautiful!
You'd have the hatchets on top, the angels or gouramis more towards the top half, you could add a few more to the columbian tetras you already have. Or if you don't add to the tetras, I'd add a school of small cories to the bottom. Maybe pandas... very cute and active! I know you have the plec, but I've heard they are pretty nocturnal. The BN plec is supposedly not aggressive to other bottom dwellers, so that shouldn't be a problem.
JMHO! ;)

Yoyo Loaches, gregarious, active and awesome little guys. Move around alot clean the tank bottom and have cool personalities :D

personally i think a medium sized gourami like gold, pearl, opaline would be a great choice! although, hatchetfish are pretty cool indeed!

I will support pearl gourami's also they are awefully nice fish.

Hatchets are awesome to I can't afford them argh...$15.00 each in aus

not to worry they only grow about 6-7 inches and 18 inches high is fine. id get one angel and maybe acouple dwarf gourmi's just make sure the ratio is 1 male to 3 females... or atleast have 2 females per male.

Hmmm..hatchets here are kind of expensive, too. So maybe not them. But I do like the idea of getting an angelfish. Maybe an angelfish and a pearl gourami?

I'm sorry to hear the hatchets are expensive where you are... they cost me about $2.50 each here. They really are some cool fish. But, there are still plenty of great ones out there!
The angel fish and pearl should be ok together from what I've read. I'd just put them in at the same time so there won't be too much of a territorial problem.

Oh, and I'd take back the danios for certain then, since they swim around the top quite a bit. I'd just add to your Columbians, and maybe get another smaller bottom dweller.

Well, I think I am sold on the pearl gouramis. They're sooo pretty. Lots of different personalities I've read about as well. Now comes the challenge of finding ones that at least appear healthy.
