I currently have a 36x12x12 tank that houses:

2 x medium sized Parrot Cichlids - probably 4-5 inches long
1 x catfish (not sure what type - it's silver)
1 x clown loach

I used to have a pleco as well, but he sadly passed away. I have no idea why - water parameters were fine (as per LFS) and he wasn't being beaten up, no visible disease, and was eating fine...

I digress...

Since the pleco has gone, I am getting some brown algae forming on the glass and the bogwood. I'm thinking of adding another fish to the tank that will munch on this to avoid me having to scrub it all off every few days.

Any ideas?

I thought the clown loach would have it, but it appears not. I could get a few more CL's to make a small group as I think he might be a bit lonely.

I am not sure if I want to get another plec. Isn't 36" limiting it a bit?

I'd appreciate any ideas you guys have.

Thanks,

Jee

I forgot to mention that due to the voracious eating done by the parrots, I have no plants at all. They even ate all my anubias/java fern!

Probably dont want to get another plec, as if it was a common then it will get to about twice the width of your tank eventually, wouldnt go for the clown loaches either, they get quite big and need alot of space to swim. Also you dont know what the silver catfish is so it may also get large and im not sure what the tank size of parrot fish are so i cant comment on that. If i were you i would do some research on the fish youve got first before deciding on more fish as it may save any future losses of fish. Also what lighting do you have for the tank and how long is it on for? If its on for too long then simply turning it off earlier might help with your algae problems. Feel free to research the tank sizes needed for your fish though as im no expert, this site has lots of articles on those fish if you have a look around.

cheers
