Okay just looking for some quick advice. Basically I have a small unheated but very well filtered and aerated. It is a size I really like, it is only five gallon but gives lots of swimming space. It is 24" x 8" x8" and at the minute houses a pair of WCMMs however I think these might be better off in my tropical tank with a group. So that leaves the tank empty apart from a pair of Amano shrimp which will increase to 5 within the next couple of weeks. I also plan to add an apple snail.

Do you think that a couple of hillstream loaches would be happy in there or is it two small?

Second question.

Planning a tank a while in the future. But what do you think about a 36 gallon containing two fantails, two weather loaches and 6 WCMMs.

Aerated by two very large air stones and filtered by a fluval 4 along with another filter. I know it is over stocked but wondered if it would work. I think I will go with just the one goldfish.

It'd be pretty good actually, if you stuck a big powerhead at one end and made it into a mini river tank. Just need a lot of algae growth though.

Q1 answered by oohfeeshy and leaving it to get covered in algae is a good idea. The natural habitat is a fast flowing stream with lots of river pebbles and small rounded rocks so maybe try and replicate that.

Q2. Its fine for the two fancy and other fish you mentioned
